TUTSo conducts voting Campaign for Mt. Kilimanjaro

Tumaini University Tourism Society, (TUTSo) is carry out a vigorous campaign to convince people to vote for Mount Kili­manjaro to be among the new sev­en natural wonders of the world.
The Switzerland based Com­pany dubbed as ‘New7Wonders’ which oversees the exercise list­ed Mount Kilimanjaro among the finalists of the new 7 wonders of nature whereas people can ei­ther vote online or by sending Small Message Service (SMS).
“We have been campaigning since the second of November for the mountain to be voted in. Our campaign will end on eleventh (11th) this month”, said Gothard Pagungile, the TUTSo president.
In fulfilling the mission, TUT­So has allocated some inter­net connected computers in the old library and a team that guides people to vote properly.
For the online voting, people can go to http;//www.new7­wonders.com/archives/won­der/Kilimanjaro to register the vote while for the SMS, one can a keyword KILI to number 15771 for all cellular networks.
Another option is voting by in­ternational telephone by dialing one of these international num­bers: +23 9220 1055 or +1 869 760 5990 or +1 649 339 8080 or +44 758 900 1290. When you dial at the end of the message, after a tone, insert the code 7716 for Kilimanjaro. When you here a thank you message you are done. Some phone companies in Tan­zania offer the service for free, while others charge up to Tshs 300/- per SMS. One can vote as many times as possible.
Pangungile said, even though the process began in June this year, at campus the exer­cise started early this month.
“We are encouraged that the campaign bares fruits because through the fliers and posters are persuaded to vote” said Pa­gungile adding that “In the first five days more than five hun­dred (500) people have voted”.
“I have voted to show patrio­tism to my country… if the mountain wins will attract more tourists to our country and earn us foreign currency” said Evance Bonephace (BACD 1).
However students expressed to face the challenged of balancing between class schedules and the task of accomplishing their mission to see Mount Kilimanjaro wins.
