REST IN PEACE DAVID WAKATI

A FORMER Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam ( RTD) director, now Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), Mr David Wakati died in Dar es Salaam on Thursday after long battle with diabetes.

TBC Director General, Mr Clement Mshana said in Dar es Salaam on Thursday that Wakati died on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Regency Hospital in the city.

“He was admitted there since Friday following long illness which was precipitated by a stroke and a long battle with diabetes. He was in a comma,” he said.

He said that burial arrangements were being made at the deceased’s son’s home in Masaki and that he would be buried at Kinondoni Cemetery on Sunday.

The late Wakati is one of the renowned radio presenters the country has ever had. He was the founder director of TBC then Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam (RTD) now TBC Taifa.

During his days, Wakati also worked with Radio Deutsche Welle Swahili Service in Bonn, German.
